Mini DVR Vehicle Car Camera Monitor Video Recorder

Ok. This is a follow up review after about 1 week of use of the camera which I literally threw to garbage.

First of all, I must admit that customer service at suntekstore.com is excellent. They DO reply back to the customer, and do it quickly. The communication is there. 5 stars from me for that.

Now regarding the camera. I must admit I got really frustrated with it at the beginning. I figured out how to get it to work when it dies on you. You just reset it(wish I had a manual). There is small reset hole on a unit. The camera dies when it is "ON" and you switch the ignition "OFF". At least in my case that what is happening. So I just pull car charger cord from it before shutting the car off. The camera will turn itself "OFF" after few seconds. When you need to use it again you first turn on the camera and then connect charger cord. It is a bit of hassle but it works.
Next. When you try to play video clips while camera connected to computer video stops every few seconds. You need to copy videos to hard drive to play it smoothly. Also, video clips play smoothly if you just play them using the camera itself. But screen is too small.
So 2 problems solved.
The quality of the video still upsets me. Maybe I got a defective unit. I do not know.
I have a strong feeling that slightly more expensive cameras on this site have a better video quality.

Anyways. I decided to improve my rating for this camera to 3 stars out of 5. I believe it is fair. Because camera is usable. In fact, today I had an accident and used this camera as a proof that I was not at fault.
If it only had the same video quality as identical cameras reviewed on Youtube, I would encourage you to buy it. Because believe me EVERYONE needs some kind of video camera in a car for insurance purposes. They WORK!

Don't bother.
It is junk. Before even turning the device "on", I thought the build quality was as cheap as it could get. No instructions what so ever included. As well as even cheapest SD card to start with.
Plugged in unit to car lighter port. The camera started recording right away. Tried to use menu, mode, or any other buttons. No response. Ok. So will see. Drove for about 45 minutes. Seem to record something. Turned the ignition off. Went to the store. Started the car. Nothing. Unplugged and plunged back in cable maybe 20 times. Nothing. DEAD. Came home. Connected to computer via USB cable. It was recognized as flash drive. No surprise here. The video clips are about 120MB each. Tried to play using Windows media player and VLC player. Video plays for few seconds then stops for few seconds, over and over again. The video quality is awful. There is a chance I had to adjust it, I do not know. Could not get to the menu.

Anyways. Yes the price was good. But looks like I bought a very good windshield mounting device for a camera, usb cable, and power cable for $35. 1 month of shipping . Camera is in the garbage can.
